How much do you know about the world? Hans Rosling, with his famous charts of global population, health and income data (and an extra-extra-long pointer), demonstrates that you have a high statistical chance of being quite wrong about what you think you know. Play along with his audience quiz — then, from Hans’ son Ola, learn 4 ways to quickly get less ignorant.

Deep appreciation to my life teacher. Your context must be used for text book in schools
A big part of the problem IS the news media. Always focusing on the worst case scenarios, alarmist, sensational, etc. People say as though matter-of-fact that there's more crime, war, starvation, disease etc. now than ever when the opposite is true.
He has more energy and enthusiasm than all my high school teachers combined
Factfulness is a true of the world.
Factfulness
TED is the best youtube channel in existance
I have to watch this for a lesson 😂😂
12:42 why are there bananas on the little screen
I know this sounds weird but OMG I love Hans and admire both father and son. Coming here from Facfulness! 🥰📖🍀
While these rule of thumbs work for many issues concerning global awareness, unfortunately they do not work regarding climate change, biodiversity, deforestation and habitat loss as well as many other issues involving our environment. If you don't believe this, you can very easily search up real research on these numbers and they are actually declining at an alarming rate.I realize it's easy for people across the planet to consider their environment as directly outside of themselves and their cities in which they reside, but it's quite the contrary. We are a part of this planet, not apart from it.
Powerful presentation!
In the third question about world poverty, they let out a very important statistic. What did the swedes answer? They may have got this right. In that case, if Hans and Ola let this out, they also may have fallen to the trap of sensationism Ola are talking about later. Just a thought.
I am really amazed by how ignorant the Swedes are. I am Finnish btw
Well what now??
Apart from the great points they made in the conclusion, I also believe it helps us sleep easy – just the comfort that everyday when you go to bed, the world will be a slightly better place when you wake up. It might seem small, but it's improving nevertheless
Probably died in some wacky child molestation accident
I learned so much from this TED thank you 🙂
The population of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden combined is only 3/4 the population of Texas. So the Swedish answers are not surprising to me at all. Scandinavians in general have shown themselves to be very sheltered and naive about the rest of the world. They are too open, idealistic, and trusting. They have a rich history and a wonderful culture that I hope they can preserve, but the current social direction is not looking good.
I was talkng about this just yesterday, YouTube just suggested it, stalker much? Ahah great video
The epitome of infotainment!
Hans Rosling: From 1900 to 2000. In 1900 there was about half a million people who diedevery year from natural disasters: floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruption, whatever, droughts..
Me: okay.. whatever is a type of natural disaster..
Me: flashback to wife saying "whatever!"
also me: furiously nodding my head
WOW
He looks like a older version of grian
